First Insurance Company of Hawaii

First Insurance is the largest and oldest insurance company headquartered in Hawaii.  It holds an A+ rating from A.M. Best Co. and has appeared on Ward's 50 group of top-performing property and casualty insurance companies in the U.S. for six consecutive years.  Dr. Payton has provided organization development, executive coaching and leadership team development services for the last 12 years.

Honolulu Department of Environmental Services

Bottom Up Change Program

Dr. Payton was responsible for designing and facilitating a Department wide, bottom up reengineering program at the Honolulu Department of Environmental Services, responsible for wastewater and solid waste services on the island of O’ahu.  This effort was undertaken by volunteer employees from all levels of the organization.  It generated 123 change proposals with business cases and implementation plans.  94 of the proposals were approved and 50% were successfully implemented.

Hawaii State Department of Education

Leadership Team Development
In 2010, the Hawaii State Department of Education embarked on an unprecedented transformation of its 280 schools implementing all new data and measurement systems, formative education practices, and support systems for principals.  It was the only State to compete its Race to the Top initiatives on deadline.  Turning Point provided leadership development and executive coaching to the senior leadership of the DOE through this transformation.

Honolulu Board of Water Supply

Comprehensive Change Program
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply underwent an organization wide transformation effort through which financial accounting, work management, and GPS systems were implemented, new division level leadership team installed, layers of management removed and new work processes implemented.  Dr. Payton was responsible for organization development strategy, leadership development, and team building activities.
 

Hawaiian Telcom

Employee Driven Change Initiative

Hawaiian Telcom underwent a fundamental transformation from a traditional monopolistic telephone company to a competitive communications company.  To support this change, Dr. Payton designed and facilitated the creation of the “Navigators” a voluntary employee team whose job it is to facilitate companywide culture change.
